A Tale of Two Masterpieces

Faro Cabo Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, completed on the 30th of March, 1892

The image is part of the lens of the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, or the Burgos Lighthouse, perched on a hill in the quaint and lovely town of Burgos in Ilocos Norte. The structure is stunning, reminiscent of 19th century architecture. It is a National Historical Landmark and a Natural Cultural Treasure.

Leaves of Grass, From Montauk Point, a poem written by Walt Whitman in 1888

Eastward the sea absorbing,

viewing, (nothing but sea and sky,)

The tossing waves, the foam, the ships in the distance,

The wild unrest, the snowy, curling caps –

that inbound urge and urge of waves,

Seeking the shores forever.
